Who We Are

Masjid Al-Wasatiyyah Wal-I’tidaal (MAWI) was founded in 2010 by Imam Okasha Kameny as a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting justice, moderation, and service in the Philadelphia Muslim community. Rooted in Islamic principles and guided by the Quran and as-Sunnah. MAWI serves as a hub for religious, educational, and charitable initiatives. From daily prayers to community welfare programs. MAWI aims to foster an inclusive environment where Muslims can grow spiritually, intellectually, and socially while contributing to the greater society with integrity and purpose.

Our Mission

Our mission is to elevate the Muslim-American way of life through the dissemination of authentic Islamic knowledge, the provision of essential community resources, and the nurturing of spiritual growth. By offering a wide range of religious, educational, and social services, we aim to create a just and empowered community that embodies the principles of faith, compassion, and accountability.

Our Vision

Our vision is to cultivate opportunities for every individual to discover and embrace the truth of Islam by developing exceptional resources and fostering intellectual growth within Islamic academia in the West. We aspire to build a community where education, innovation, and collaboration thrive, allowing Muslims to contribute meaningfully to society while upholding the values of justice, moderation, and service.
